🎯 Scholarship Overview
🔗 Research Project 1: Forest Management and Nightjar Conservation
Start Date: May 2026
This project will continue ongoing research on how forest management practices influence nightjar populations in southern Illinois.
Species of interest:
- Eastern whip-poor-will
- Chuck-will’s-widow
The research will examine how habitat structure, timber harvest practices, and landscape features affect these nocturnal bird species. Students interested in wildlife biology, ornithology, and conservation ecology are strongly encouraged to apply.
🔗 Research Project 2: Bottomland Forest Dynamics and Invasive Species
Start Date: August 2026
This project focuses on:
- Stand dynamics of bottomland forest plantations
- Ecological changes following ash tree mortality
- The spread and impact of invasive plant species
The study will contribute to understanding long-term forest resilience and management strategies in floodplain ecosystems. This opportunity is ideal for students interested in forest ecology, restoration ecology, and invasive species management.
📋 Key Responsibilities
This MSc Forestry Wildlife USA position involves:
