🔗 Mission & Context

UNICEF Pakistan Climate, Energy and Environment (CEE) programming has five focus areas:

  1. Ensure children are at the center for Climate, Energy and Environment Policy and financing plans
  2. Invest in climate resilient infrastructure and services
  3. Mobilize climate finance for children
  4. Empowering young people
  5. Evidence Generation

The incumbent reports to the CLIMATE CHANGE, ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT & WASH Manager, working in close collaboration with the CEE team in Islamabad and across UNICEF Pakistan.


📋 Key Responsibilities

Support for Evidence Generation and Knowledge Management

  • Support implementation and monitoring of UNICEF Pakistan CEE programme and annual workplan
  • Track CEE work across UNICEF programmes (WASH, Health, Education, etc.)
  • Develop communication materials, information packages, and presentations
  • Write technical papers on climate change, energy & environment activities
  • Support tracking of climate financing opportunities and thematic priorities
  • Develop policy analysis and briefing notes for UNICEF advocacy priorities
  • Conduct field visits to project sites for data collection and knowledge generation
  • Map climate partnerships across public, development, and private sectors

Support Youth Engagement Activities

  • Coordinate with partners and Ministry of Climate Change and Environmental Coordination (MOCC&EC) on youth engagement activities
  • Promote UNICEF Pakistan’s CEE programme among stakeholders focusing on youth climate activists

Other Support

  • Provide support to programme areas including climate finance as required

NationalityMust be a national, legal resident, or hold refugee status in Pakistan
EducationMaster’s degree in Climate Change, Water Resource Management, Engineering, DRR, Social Science, Economic Development, International Cooperation, or related field
ExperienceMinimum 7 years professional experience in CEE or related field
Relevant ExperienceMinimum 3 years
LanguageEnglish (Fluent, Desirable)

Required Experience

  • Experience in conducting research and analysis on climate change/environmental degradation/renewable energy
  • Experience working in climate change and environment with a development organization
  • Demonstrated analytical and writing skills

Desirable Knowledge

  • Current climate change trends and impact on children
  • Child rights and gender equality principles
  • Gender sensitive programming in climate change
