Applications are open for a Marine Biodiversity Specialist Job at the Ministry of Climate Change. The successful candidate will lead marine biodiversity assessments, develop conservation programs, and advise on sustainable marine resource management policies.


📋 Key Responsibilities

Field Research & Assessment

  • Conduct field studies and marine biodiversity assessments
  • Analyze marine ecosystems, species distribution, and ecological interactions
  • Use GIS, remote sensing, and statistical tools for biodiversity modeling

Conservation & Policy

  • Develop and implement marine conservation programs
  • Advise governments, NGOs, and organizations on biodiversity policies
  • Promote sustainable marine resource management

Collaboration & Management

  • Work with interdisciplinary teams including marine biologists, ecologists, and policy makers
  • Manage projects related to marine protected areas, habitat restoration, and species conservation
  • Secure funding through grant writing and proposals

Additional Duties

  • Any other responsibility assigned by Management

✅ Eligibility Criteria

Required Qualification

Degree LevelFields
Master’s or PhDMarine Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, Marine Zoology, Wildlife & Ecology, or related fields

Note: Higher degree/PhD from a foreign university will be given preference.

Required Experience

  • 10 years post-qualification experience in:
    • Marine biodiversity
    • Planning and management
    • Development sector

Technical Skills

  • Strong understanding of marine ecosystems and conservation strategies
  • Proficiency in sustainable resource management practices
  • Experience with GIS, remote sensing, and statistical tools

Project Management

  • Planning, budgeting, and evaluation expertise
  • Grant writing and proposal development skills

Communication

  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills
  • Ability to convey complex information to diverse audiences
