📋 Key Responsibilities
1. Independent Research in Quantitative Genetics
Lead high-level research projects in data-driven predictive breeding, integrating genomic and phenotypic data to improve crop performance and sustainability.
2. Advanced Data Analysis & Tool Development
Design reproducible pipelines using R and Python to manage and analyze large datasets, including SNP profiles and transcriptomic sequences. Ensure compliance with modern data governance standards.
3. Teaching & Academic Contribution
Deliver core and elective courses in:
- Quantitative Genetics
- Experimental Design
- Biostatistics
Provide methodological consulting and contribute to curriculum development.
4. Student Supervision & Mentorship
Supervise PhD, MSc, and BSc students while fostering a collaborative and research-driven learning environment.
5. Research Funding & Collaboration
Acquire third-party funding and manage national and international research collaborations, including partnerships with industry stakeholders.
6. Publication & Outreach
Publish in peer-reviewed journals, present at international conferences, and actively engage in science communication and knowledge transfer initiatives.
✅ Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for this competitive academic position, candidates must have:
- PhD in Plant Breeding, Animal Breeding, Statistical Genetics, Population Genetics, or a related discipline
- Strong expertise in quantitative genetics
- Extensive experience in biostatistics, including AI-based techniques
- Advanced programming skills in R and/or Python
- Experience handling big data, including genomic and phenotypic datasets
- Excellent English communication skills (German B2 is advantageous)
- Strong organizational, teamwork, and project management abilities
